Application of Commercial Ice Maker

Restaurants
Restaurants are one of the most common places where you will find commercial ice maker. In a busy restaurant setting, having a reliable source of ice is essential for keeping drinks cold and refreshing. Whether customers are enjoying a cold soda, cocktail, or iced tea, having plenty of ice on hand ensures that their beverages stay chilled to perfection. With a commercial ice maker, restaurants can produce large quantities of ice quickly and efficiently, keeping customers happy and drinks cold.

Bars
Bars are another popular setting where commercial ice makers are essential. Just like in restaurants, having a steady supply of ice is crucial for keeping drinks cold and customers satisfied. In a busy bar environment, bartenders need to be able to quickly access ice to make cocktails, mixed drinks, and other beverages. A commercial ice maker allows bars to produce large quantities of ice on site, so bartenders never have to worry about running out. This not only saves time and money but also helps to improve customer satisfaction by ensuring that drinks are served cold and refreshing every time.

Hotels
Hotels rely on commercial ice maker to provide ice for guests in their rooms, as well as for use in restaurants, bars, and other hospitality areas. Whether guests are enjoying a cold drink in their room or at the hotel pool, having a convenient source of ice is essential for providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Commercial ice maker allow hotels to produce ice on site, reducing the need to constantly restock with bagged ice. This not only saves money but also ensures that guests always have access to ice whenever they need it, whether it's for a refreshing drink or to cool down a sprain.

Hospitals
Commercial ice makers are also commonly used in hospitals and other healthcare settings. In hospitals, ice is often used for medical purposes, such as cooling down patients with a fever or providing relief for swelling or pain. Having a reliable source of ice on site is essential for ensuring that medical staff can quickly access ice when needed for patient care.

Office Buildings
In office buildings, commercial ice makers are often used in break rooms to provide ice for employees to use in their drinks or to keep their lunch cool. Having a commercial ice maker on site eliminates the need for employees to bring in bagged ice or constantly refill ice trays, saving time and hassle. Commercial ice maker in office buildings are also beneficial for hosting meetings, events, or conferences where large quantities of ice may be needed to keep attendees refreshed.

Types of Commercial Ice Maker
Large Commercial Ice Machine

Modular Ice Machines

Modular ice machines are designed for businesses with large-scale ice needs. These units produce ice in high quantities but require a separate storage bin. They’re a frequently chosen option for companies that need to stockpile ice throughout the day, such as busy restaurants or bars.

Commercial Commercial Ice Maker

Self-Contained Ice Machines

Self-contained ice machines are the all-in-one solution, combining ice production and storage in a single unit. These machines are ideal for small to medium-sized businesses where space is at a premium, but the demand for ice is still high.

Commercial Undercounter Ice Machine

Undercounter Ice Makers

Undercounter ice machines fit neatly under the counter or bar, maximizing space without sacrificing ice availability. They’re perfect for establishments with limited space but a consistent need for fresh ice, such as small cafes or boutique hotels.

Restaurant Supply Ice Machine

Countertop Ice Machines

Countertop ice makers are compact and often include water dispensers. They are commonly found in office settings or small healthcare facilities, providing easy access to ice and water without occupying too much space.

Correct use of commercial ice maker

Commercial Ice Maker Operation

Before starting the machine, you must check whether the automatic water supply device is normal and whether the water tank water volume is reasonable (the water level has been adjusted when the machine leaves the factory, and the user does not need to adjust it).

Plug in the power supply, the commercial ice maker starts working, first the water pump starts running (the water pump has a short air exhaust process), about 2 minutes later the compressor starts to start, and the machine enters the ice making state.

When the thickness of the ice reaches the set thickness, the ice plate probe starts to start, the defrost solenoid valve starts to work, the water pump stops working, the hot air enters the evaporator, and the ice falls in about 1 minute.

When the ice falls, flip the ice baffle and open the reed switch.

When the reed switch is closed again, the machine enters the ice making process again.

The compressor does not stop during the entire ice making and ice removal process.

When the ice storage bucket is full of ice and the reed switch cannot be closed automatically, the machine automatically stops working. When enough ice cubes are taken away and the reed switch is closed again, the machine starts after a delay of 3 minutes and re-enters the ice making process.

Adjustment of ice bridge thickness.

The thickness of the ice bridge should be about 3mm, and the distance between the probe and the evaporator should be about 1.5mm thicker than the actual ice bridge thickness. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise to increase the ice bridge thickness.

Check the wiring and connection bracket of the ice plate probe, and ensure free rotation so that it can return to the correct position after each ice making process.

Precautions for using commercial ice maker

The commercial ice maker must be kept horizontal, otherwise it will not shed ice and generate noise during operation.

The gap between the back and left and right sides of the commercial ice maker should not be less than 30cm, and the gap at the top should not be less than 60cm.

The commercial ice maker should use an independent power supply, a dedicated power supply line, and be equipped with a fuse and a leakage protection switch, and it must be reliably grounded.

The water used by the commercial ice maker must meet the national drinking water standards, and a water filter device must be installed to filter impurities in the water to avoid clogging the water pipes, polluting the sink and ice molds, and affecting the ice making performance.

When cleaning the commercial ice maker, the power should be turned off. It is strictly forbidden to use a water pipe to directly flush the machine body. Use a neutral detergent to scrub it. It is strictly forbidden to use acidic, alkaline and other corrosive solvents to clean it.

The commercial ice maker must unscrew the water inlet hose head every two months and clean the water inlet valve filter to prevent sand and mud impurities in the water from clogging the water inlet, causing the water inlet to decrease, resulting in no ice making.

The dust on the surface of the condenser of the commercial ice maker must be cleaned every two months. Poor condensation and heat dissipation will cause damage to the compressor components. When cleaning, use a vacuum cleaner, a small brush, etc. to clean the oil and dust on the condenser surface. Do not use sharp metal tools to clean, so as not to damage the condenser.

The water pipes, sinks, storage bins and protective films of the commercial ice maker should be cleaned every two months.

When the commercial ice maker is not in use, it should be cleaned and the ice mold and the water in the box should be blown dry with a hair dryer. It should be placed in a place without corrosive gases and ventilated and dry.

Q: How long is the shelf life of the product

A: Quality guarantee term is for one year, During guarantee period, free technical support and free spare parts supply.

Q: How do commercial ice makers work?

A: As the commercial ice maker performs its refrigerant functions, the water is slowly chilled until it becomes ice. Ideally, the machine should freeze the water layer by layer. This is what creates clear, picture-perfect ice. If the water freezes all at once, it creates telltale cloudy cubes that look less than ideal.

Q: Do commercial ice makers use a lot of water?

A: In contrast, most air-cooled ice machines consume less than 20 gallons per 100 pounds of ice produced. The impact of water savings may not be apparent until one considers the actual cost of water and sewer discharge over the lifetime of the machine. The average lifespan of a commercial ice-maker is 8.5 years.

Q: How do I choose a commercial ice maker?

A: A good rule of thumb is to select an ice maker that produces about 20% more ice than your daily needs. So if your operation needs 500 pounds of ice per day, purchase a 600 lb ice maker. Once your needs exceed 1000 lbs per day, then 10% additional output should suffice.
